Former Texas A&M coach Barone dies at 72

Former Texas A&M and Memphis Grizzlies head coach Tony Barone died Tuesday at age 72 after a long battle with cancer.Barone led the Aggies for seven seasons (1991-98) after a six-season run at Creighton (1985-91), posting an overall 178-202 record with two NCAA Tournament appearances (1989, 1991).”Coach ‘B’ was a special person and the impact he made on me and countless others transcended basketball,” Eddie Molitor, a former A&M assistant under Barone, told the Houston Chronicle. “He had a contagious energy that lit up every gym and room he was in. We’ve lost a great one.”
