Utah basketball placed on two years of probation

The NCAA placed the Utah men’s basketball team on two years of probation for recruiting violations committed during a one-week span in April 2018.The penalty announced Tuesday does not include a postseason ban, loss of scholarships or dismissal of coaches.The NCAA said an assistant coach, known to be associate head coach Tommy Connor, “misapplied recruiting rules” by meeting with a recruit during what was supposed to be a quiet period.The school already had self-imposed a suspension of Connor for one week in November 2018.Connor has been an assistant to coach Larry Krystkowiak for eight seasons.
