Utah State LB Evans suspended after rape charge

Utah State suspended linebacker Jamaal Evans after he was charged with rape and forcible sodomy due to an incident earlier this month.Evans was charged with the first-degree felony offenses on Thursday after being arrested Wednesday night. He is being held in the Cache County Jail in Logan, Utah.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 10.Police say the incident began at an off-campus party on June 17 and continued into the early hours of June 18. Police allege Evans raped a woman too intoxicated to give consent.A friend of the woman said she found her “completely incoherent” in a bathroom with Evans.
