Withers helps Louisville shake off Prairie View A&M

Jae’Lyn Withers had 12 of his 20 points in the first half and David Johnson scored 19 as Louisville shook off a slow start en route to an 86-64 home win over Prairie View A&M on Sunday night.Carlik Jones had 15 points and Dre Davis scored 12 for the Cardinals (3-0).Withers, a redshirt freshman forward, posted a career-high in points while also pulling down nine rebounds. Withers made his first seven shots before finally missing an attempt more than five minutes into the second half.Johnson, meanwhile, went 6 of 10 from the field and also recorded six assists.Louisville, which shot 60.9 percent and went 24 of 32 from the free-throw line, looked a bit rusty out of the gate, missing five of its first six shots and trailing 11-4 about six minutes into the game. The Cardinals eventually found some form and used a 6-0 run to take their first lead at 21-18 via a three-point play from Davis.
